RED TAURUS GROUP A brief introduction The Red Taurus Group started back in 1995 in Hong Kong when Swing Jazz Bar owner Jason Ho got a group of like-minded musician friends to perform in a concert and thereafter regularly at his own bar. From these early days, the band developed a strong friendship and camaraderie rooted in their love for music in general and in particular, their passion for jazz, latin and fusion. The group has a distinctively Asian flavour - the band leader, Jason Ho, from Singapore, has lived in Hong Kong for 12 years. The other musicians are also foreigners who have become permanent Hong Kong residents - Alex Katsumata is from Japan, Pao Yen is from Hong Kong and Dylan Lye, Hassan Musafer and DC Dulip are from Sri Lanka. The music of Red Taurus can be thought of as a fusion of three musical genres namely flamenco, latin & jazz. The group's repertoire is wide-ranging but it's unique identity lies in the fact that all of the members have different musical training or preferences which results in a very interesting blend of styles. The fiery and rhythmic rendition of the tunes makes for very lively and invigorating live performances which is characteristic of Red Taurus. The band recorded it's first CD in 2005/06. The CD is a collection of original tunes composed over the years. It is best described as a mix of melodious, ethereal and evocative music which is very listenable, iconic of the band's musical inclinations and style.
