Pop N' Lock
Bay Area Rapper/CEO OF FOD Entertainment, Renz Julian is a talented upcoming lyricist, and one of the best kept secrets on the west coast. The streets have been anticipating Renz to drop an album since originally signed with MBC Records, along with partner Salim the Uneek under former Luniz manager Will Brewer. The duo out of West Oakland released an album \'Fingaz of Gold\' under their own indie label FOD Ent., as well as countless mixtapes such as 2 the League hosted by DJ Cali of Metal Mouth DJ\'s. In 2007 Renz appeared on Bay Bidness 3 hosted by DJ E-Rock of Sirius/Shadyville DJ\'s, & DJ Whoo Kid of G-Unit/Hot 97. Renz followed the appearance with the mixtape Legal Crack, also hosted by E-Rock. The mix CD gained national publicity on websites such as dubcnn.com, westcoastrydaz.com, and raptalk.net to name a few. Legal Crack also had over 30,000 downloads on the web and was the top selling west coast mixtape on various sites. In between hustles, Renz spent time grinding his way to the NFL during a stint as an Arena Football player. Lookout for the full length album, which will be released later this year on FOD (Field of Dreamz) Entertainment, a newly established indie label out of the bay area. Currently, Renz has the radio airwaves and the streets buzzing with the club single \'Clap, Clap\' featuring Clyde Carson and produced by Traxamillion. Musically, Renz derives his lyrics from a tumultuous upbringing in which he lived in a drug infested environment, and was forced out on the streets by the age of 14. As a native of the bay area, Renz bounced around numerous unstable living situations, and survived by his hustle and rigorous work ethic. A talented individual, Renz accepted a football scholarship and in a brief college career showed NFL potential as a Running Back. After rookie camps with pro teams such as the Atlanta Falcons, Renz eventually landed in the Arena football leagues where he played with various teams around the country. Injuries and politics ended his brief football career. Soon after brushes with the law, deaths of loved ones, and a near death experience in the hospital, Renz decided to put his energy into his music and formed FOD Entertainment LLC. The Label was formed on Sycamore St. In West Oakland, in a Crack infested building controlled by drug dealers. The inspiration from his music comes from the broken dreams and despair of his hard youth, and anger toward racism, poverty and capitalism. A real artist in the purest form, Renz documents his real life experiences in his debut album, set for release in 2008.
