Ringout : Wake Wake Dear
The Ringout is a four-piece indy rock band from New Jersey whose pieces fell together like a good game of Tetris. You know the kind game where you're building this awful mess of a tower with all your pieces, stacking up ever higher threatening to end the game at any second... then a couple clutch sliders come in and your clear the board? In early 2005 longtime musical collaborators Jeff Ulrich and Pete Andrews began to concoct a musical machine to arise from their previous adventures together in Million Time Winner. Joined by guitar wiz-kid Tim Bennett of Full Surrender they quickly released 'Ghost of an Acrobat' in 2005 and soon thereafter they began work on their next recorded work which was to take no less than 4 years and as many bass players to complete. Eventually the ever dazzling Scott Sofer swooped in from north Jersey to settle the bass player quandary, and this band was now complete. The time spent in search of personnel and of inspiration has finally paid off with the unveiling of the long awaited follow up work: 'Wake! Wake! Dear'. This release represents a slight stylistic departure from the wall of grinding guitar rock that snuck it's shabby head into 'Ghost' from time to time, replaced with generous amounts of nimble clean, playfully chiming fretwork at the hands of both Tim and Jeff. Remaining as always are the rich, multi layered lyrics brought in on Mr. Ulrich's trademark breathy and desperate vocal delivery.
