Fathers & Sons
Singer songwriter Rob Spence was born and raised in Burwell, Cambridge in the east of England. Growing up around Londons punk scene in the late 70's, Rob felt inspired enough to start his own band. The 3 piece 'Rat race rockers' were the starting point that was later to bring Rob to the United States in the summer of 1985 with the band 'Sancho Panzer.' Post 'Panzer' days found Rob playing in 'The Essence,' 'The Four Fathers,' 'The Skylarx'(accoustic duo with Irish musician Pat Kane)and traditional Irish band 'West o'Clare.' During this time Rob continued songwriting and performing and in 1996 recorded his first solo album 'Rhythm of the Universe,' an eclectic swirl of 'optimistic pop, rock and folk with a Celtic twist.' Today, Rob performs solo and introduces his latest collection of songs 'Fathers & Sons' to the public. Recorded in the aftermath of September 11th 2001, 'Fathers & Sons' offers an emotional and nostalgic journey back to Rob's childhood in England. This 15 song set mixes rock, pop, folk, jazz and reggae with positive and spiritual messages. Rob has labelled his sound 'Poptimistic'(optimistic pop music) as his love for music and positive attitude shine through on these beautiful melodies!
