Product Notes

I guess I started making music pretty late in life. I was in college when I learned to play guitar. My family is full of artists, though. Whatever I did, and still do, it centers around my creativity. I used to make comic books for my younger brothers. Then later we had a garage band, The Screaming Penises. In the 80's I started Beyond The Bomb Studios and made my first album, The Atomic Blast. This was a real learning experience for me. I didn't have a lot of money for a lot of hi-tech equipment so I had to learn how to get great sound being lo-fi. It was really guerilla recording. Very punk. But the sounds I got from this, I liked. And it jelled with the way I like to create music itself. Very emotional. Very improvisational. Very simple. I turn on my equipment and start playing and see what happens. I record everything I do. Sometimes it's great stuff. Sometimes it's crap. I keep everything I record because you never know when it may be useful. My studio is very simple. I basically just use some guitars electric and acoustic, drum machine, mixer, CD burner, guitar synth controller and microphone. Since I use the bare bones to create music I stay true to the music and don't use computers or software to create my sound. It's hard to make music this way since I have to do it all on two tracks.Lot's of people have many tracks and they can do whatever. I think with less tracks you have to make your music say more and it is more emotional. Solar Winds is essentially a concept album. I was going through songs and found these that seemed to go together. At the same time I was working on a writing project and found the two were intertwining. I think it worked out great. The Story of Solar Winds. Cronos is a man with mission, a mission to travel to another galaxy as any good cosmonaut should. He will be gone a long time and worries about the state of his home planet upon his return, if he should return. Using the solar winds to sail into the galaxy he looks down onto his planet says good-bye, and prepares for deep sleep. Upon awakening he finds himself in the orbit of the the alien planet. Unfortunately, upon descent his ship crashes onto the planet leaving him at the mercy of the aliens. Will they be friends or hostile? The natives first call him 'Sky God' because of falling from the sky but eventually enslave him when they realize that he isn't and his knowledge doesn't help them. Cronos finds a way to fight free and fix his ship, hoping to make it back to his home planet. A long time has passed and home seems so far away. What will Earth be like when he returns? I have been working on material for Solar Winds part 2 and 3. I don't know if I will come out with them or not. I am looking at doing an illustrated novel with the CD if I do put it out. I have been manipulating some photos I took and have been getting some great ideas from that. Or I might just re-release the Atomic Blast album. Putting out this CD is a big step in my career and I am just trying to do everything it takes to get it on the minds and lips of as many people as possible.
