'Robert Scheffler is a songwriter's writer,' says music critic and industry veteran Jim Fouratt. 'Major label A&R folk have been flirting with him for years. Finally he did what any sensible artist would do in this age of mergers and downsizing: put out his own album.' Scheffler's new record, Pretty Town, recorded over the course of 10 months in a Brooklyn studio by John Abbey, a producer and musician who has worked with Ray Davies and Dan Zanes. Pretty Town features an award-winning no-frills title track and a studio line-up including Abbey, Phil Cimino, Lance Doss, Jenifer Jackson, Matt Keating, Joe Barbato and John Ginty-musicians who have shared stages with great artists like Jules Shear, Robert Randolph, and Velvet Underground co-founder John Cale.
