Product Notes

This CD re-introduces The Rodger Collins signature musical genre fitting in almost all popular categories. Rodger's intent is to share the flavor of his dynamic stage presence and tapestry of his musical influences with all those who haven't had the opportunity to see him live in concert. When you listen to this CD you come away feeling like you have been part of his concert audience. The Driven 2 Step (featuring Mystery Train)-The Grateful Dead and Creedence Clearwater Revival fans along with all music lovers will be especially delighted with what Collins describes as his sentimental track. Collins is at his best in this once in a lifetime session with friends and sidemen the late great Merl Saunders, Jerry Garcia (The Grateful Dead) and Tom Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival). The Collins genre and strong vocal delivery make the track acceptable in multiple categories: easy listening, deep funk, traditional R&B, rock, blues, and lite rock. Family Situation-This timely beautiful ballad relates the story of a father who lost his children to the streets. This new approach is for now and touches all people. It is so heartfelt and original until everyone (literally everyone) can identify with it. Placement of this track in country (a brand new country approach), soul, pop, blues, gospel, folk, lite rock, and easy listening is right on target. It's a for sure hit! In My Wildest Dream-what can I say? Play it anywhere you want. Starting with country, there is yodeling in it. Funk-there's funk in it. Entertaining, there's novelty in it. There's the playful hip-hop narrative. Soulful Latin shrills in it coupled with many Rodger Collins' hallmark sound effects. There is history in it mixed with current ideas showcasing the Collins performance genre, exciting your "brand new dance buds." Categories are: country, soul, r&b, rock, and lite rock. Thank U Baby-another strong track with a fresh approach to pop, lite rock, soul, r&b, jazz, easy listening and country. This track is a mix of soulful vocals, powerful love lyrics and a tasty groove with a hint of hip-hop. This one has special appeal for those Earth, Wind and Fire audiences with a sound that you won't be able to get out of your head. Stop That Lady-a for sure rocker bumpin hit. This track is sprinkled with a soulful country twist and rock and roll. But all the while the track is bumpin with that Bay area funk appeal. Nailed to the Floor-here comes another winner. This is one that stays with you. The scatting is so unique and unexpected, again the Rodger Collins' vocals are versatile, bluesy and classy, Blues category or Rock, Rodger Collins is handling it! Plaything-hit, hit, hit! This is an innovative approach to country driven by a "belt buckle shiner" groove (country slow dancing while rubbing belt buckles) track. Collins vocals are original, clear and soulful with hints of blues, gospel, and jazz delivered with pure country. Plaything fits into country, blues, easy listening, and r&b categories. Once again, it's just Rodger Collins! Making Up (Lost Time)-Classy and bluesy with a new sound that highlights "I know what I'm talking about" authority delivered by Collins. This is a beautifully sung and written track once again showcasing the versatility of Collins' voice. This track fits into blues, country, lite rock and easy listening categories. She's Looking Good-This track is new and different. Once again this soul classic She's Looking Good has hit the streets. This time with a Fresh Update in the mix with yodeling and unique group effect shrills. The killer track is an extreme make over of Rodger Collins' classic hit from the late sixties. Fans are treated to the many different tones of his voice on this new version. Locked Up - Broad appeal to many audiences in this one. Am I repeating myself here, another hit! A novelty take on the contemporary urban life this track highlights the fear and reality of being locked up in your own home because of burglars. Both the lyrics and vocal delivery by Collins establishes a unique musical approach to everyday life. Hangin in There - Drum effects, unusual lyrics and arrangement creates a new musical sound rooted in honky-tonk blues contrasted against a lyrical interpretation that will appeal to a broad audience. The combination of uplifting lyrics sung with "I know what I'm talking about" authority accompanied by scatting, where you would never expect it, drives it home. Take Care of Business-a lover's song for all seasons describes this track. The vocal is so touching it can't help but hit. Mark this one down for weddings and other special occasions. New genre, new sound, great song, and great vocal equals hit.
