Walk with Me
I can remember as a boy sitting on the tractor in Seneca Missouri (just outside Joplin), Bushhoggin\' my Uncle\'s field. Nothing to do but sit and dodge yellow jackets and listen to a muffler that needed to be replaced. So I sang (at the top of my lungs) but I sang. I don\'t know how many people could hear me, but a few did. I wasn\'t serving the Lord then nor did I for many years after that. I went into the Army and then I married my High School sweetheart-Paula Buening. We were blessed with a beautiful baby girl and after the Army we moved to Oregon. There our son was born. Paula started going to church with the kids and I fought them all the way. Well, you can\'t stop a prayin\' woman and soon I found myself in church with them. Not long after I gave my heart to the Lord, I sat one evening in my bedroom and pondered and prayed, \'Lord there must be something I can do with all this music bottled up inside me.\' Almost immediately the Lord gave me a song. A few days later our Pastor asked me to sing at a New Year\'s eve watch service. In 1982 we moved again to Prineville, Oregon. Right smack dab in the middle of the state where Paula and I started Pastoring. Again music played a vital role. We are a very musical church and have given many many people an opportunity to be somebody in Christ and serve him. It takes a special woman to be a Pastor\'s wife and a musician\'s wife too. Paula is that, a very special woman. In 1993 I recorded my first album in Central Oregon, The Same Yesterday, Today and Forever. The record did fairly well for someone who didn\'t get out and promote it. Today, it is still selling very well. Then in July of 2005, I recorded Walk With Me. This time I went to Gene Breeden Studio in Nashville, TN. Wow what a wonderful group of people. In 2006 we decided to do a remake of my first album, The Same Yesterday, Today and Forever. I am so much more pleased with this remake. In 2007 we recorded our 3rd Nashville album, Not Ashamed. I can clearly see the hand of God in these lyrics, and feel humbled at his blessing. We charted on two different charts this year, Christian Country and Southern Gospel charts and did quite well. On my first album, I was privileged to have my daughter (Shelly) and son (Brian) sing along with me and Shelly played piano for me. What a blessing to sing with your children. Today we have (4) beautiful grandgirls, Alyssa (14), Rylie (11), Quinci (5) and Danner (22 months)and (1)grandson,Carson Wade (1Week). They all sing with Grandpa, or someday will, and always upstage me. Rylie and Alyssa were the inspiration for the song Walk With Me.They all sing with Grandpa. Rylie and Alyssa were the inspiration for the song Walk With Me. Those girls have taught me so much, I should be so blessed. Since giving my heart to the Lord, there has been no turning back. Why would I want to go back to Egypt. I am looking forward toward the Cross. I only want to live my life for Jesus. To serve him and make him known. My music is a tool. I am so thankful that God has entrusted me with these songs, with the ability to sing and play a guitar. My life is so full, Thank you Lord. What does the future hold, only God knows. But when he returns, I want to be found serving and pickin\' my guitar some place and singing his praises. --Ron Hemphill.
