Product Notes

'I'm on a serious Joy Division bent right now and just popped in the latest release from Denver's The Rooster Brothers, Will you be my friend. I'm five songs in and still chuckling at the irony, but the answer is yes, I'll be your friend ... in fact I'll be your friend with benefits! Here comes a stream of conscious style review of the album. Very sparse, clean production, wonderful sunny harmonies ... I'm guessing no more than one or two takes on most of the tracks and intentionally or not is brilliant for interpreting their very personal, alive style of art-school-ish, Americana-ish, Folk-ish Rock. They've got a very solid and cool Nico-ish Kim Cole on drums ... I'm saying "ish" a lot ... a young Robert De Niro look-alike on guitar ... bassist/singer Jeff Wiencrot conjures images of Joe Cocker at a revival as they kick into one of their signature songs, "Daddy Long Legs." If they sold this album on an infomercial I can see Billy Mays (RIP) sporting his ducktail, dickies, fuzzy dice, with half the studio audience dressed for a fun-ass square dance and the other half like characters from "Pulp Fiction." Trust me, you'll want to be their friend, as well, after you listen to this absolute gem of an album.' - Doug Anderson, Colorado Music Buzz The Rooster Brothers were formed in the fall of 2007. Each band member's musical background is unique, but their chemistry as a group was immediate, and they went on to craft the fun-loving, thoughtful, blues- and folk-infused rock sound for which they have become known. Since their first show in September 2007, the band's easygoing style, showmanship, and songwriting abilities have been apparent to audiences of any demographic. Their 2008 release, 'Will you be my friend', reflects the band's musical versatility, and their collective commitment to creating interesting, well-written, good-time rock music.
