Product Notes

If you were to trace the origins of Sanctum you would be taken back to Tampa, Florida in 1993. When drummer, Greg Seymore and guitarist Bill Owen (Purgatory, Sanctum, and Unearthed) got together to jam for the first time since the both of them had been in Purgatory some four years earlier. That first version of Sanctum would last for two and a half years and produce a four song E.P., titled "Hand of time". That lineup disbanded in the Summer of 1995. Fast forward to 1998 when Greg relocated to his home state of Indiana and was reunited with John DeMille, whom he had known since the two of them were sixteen years old. September of 1998, John and Greg got together to jam, and by the end of their first practice had already written the bulk of what would become "Destination X", one of the songs that wound up on the debut album. Finding the rest of the band members would prove to be easier said than done. Auditioning numerous musicians, it took almost four years before finding guitarist Chad Capper. Chad, who would be on again, off again with the band provided sixteen hours of studio time that was owed to him and enabled Sanctum to begin the recording of their album in the Fall of 2002. February 2004, Sanctum was given the phone number of Vince Meyer, a vocalist who was looking for a band. After a couple of phone calls Vince made it to a rehearsal and improvised some lyrics to a couple of songs. A week or two later, Vince was in the band. When "Vince joined the band", said Greg, "It brought some much needed excitement and momentum. It gave us a kick in the ass". About seven months after Sanctum was ready to finish the album, it was at this point that a longtime friend of Vince's (Nick Thieme) mentioned that he would like to be a part of Sanctum, and Nick was brought in to play bass. Six weeks later on December 23rd and 31st, Sanctum hit the studio and completed tracking. 2005 brought some changes to the band. Not long after recording was finished Sanctum played a couple of shows and was starting to gain some momentum, when Nick decided to leave and get back to playing drums. About three months later Chad was gone due to other obligations. Vince, John and Greg carried on and finally got the money to get the CDs printed. Greg Seymour on drums, previous bands Purgatory, Iced Earth and Incite. John DeMille, rhythm, lead guitar, previous bands, Untamed. Vince Meyer- vocals additional musicians on this CD were: Chad Capper- Guitar, lead on tracks 3 and 6. Nick Thieme-bass.
