To the Lord of Heaven & Earth: A Concert of Worshi
2006 has turned out to be a big year for Scott Riggan. With the nationwide release of his CD BRING GLORY on the Spring Hill/Word/Warner Bros. Label (July 06), a mission trip to Ghana, West Africa, a tour of China (his second since last year), plus producing a Mandarin Chinese worship CD (available in China only), Scott would seem to have every reason to slow down a bit. Instead, here comes yet another project - this time a LIVE worship concert full of familiar songs - with his own unique twist. This project captures a new side of Scott's artistry - or at least a side not heard on his previous recordings. "Every concert I do ends in worship," Scott explains. "We are wired to respond to God this way, and after talking and singing about His love and grace for an hour or two, it has always been the most natural thing to transition into worship." The CD contains new interpretations of well-known songs like 'Lord I Lift Your Name On High', 'God of Wonders' and 'You Are My King (Amazing Love)'. One of the highlights of the concert is 'Trading My Sorrows'. Scott says, "I really fell in love with this song while singing it in China last year. The lyric took on a deeper meaning in an environment where there is open hostility to Christianity and a real awareness of the value of salvation. There's so much shame in that culture, and this song is a great expression of what it means to lay all of that down in exchange for the joy of the Lord." The perfect companion to BRING GLORY (Scott's other new CD), TO THE LORD OF HEAVEN & EARTH: A Concert Of Worship captures the heart of what it means to be a worshiper of God.
