After an eight year hiatus which followed his 1997 W.C. Handy Award for Comeback Album of the Year (Wake Up And Live), Floyd Dixon returned to the music scene last year with his HighJohn Records studio debut, Fine! Fine! Thing! In June, he took the next logical step, recording a live album that proved to be his final one. He passed away 55 days after making this release. The album features Floyd performing his original material and some covers as well as performances by Pinetop Perkins, Henry Gray, Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Kid Ramos (former T-Bird guitarist) and soul singer Johnny Tucker. This release is uniting some of the blues best loved stars. Blues radio in the U.S. and around the world has been serviced with this record. A national publicity campaign targeting mainstream newspapers, magazines, syndicated radio and regional publications as well as blues specific newsletters is under way.
