Seth Kaufman developed his solo piano sound in Ithaca and New Orleans. Drawing upon influences in jazz, classical, and experimental music, Kaufman's style has been said to 'push the piano's limits' (Times Picayune, New Orleans). Compartments was created in New York City between 2000-2005 and developed at live performances at Roulette, Lansky Lounge, KGB and Makor. 'Ebb September' premiered in 2003 at Bosendorfer New York on the occasion of Bosendorfer's 175th Anniversary. 'The Four Five and Six' was inspired by the Lexington subway line. 'The Rails' was written for prepared piano. Seth Kaufman is a Bosendorfer Artist and performs regularly in Boston, New Orleans, NYC and San Francisco. Compartments premiered on WNYC New Sounds with John Schaefer in November 2006.
