Product Notes

'I think that all I really wanted was to get right back there, in close to the people of that early period of my life ... and what better way to do that but through the songs that were there all the time in our house, waiting to be sung again' - Shane Brady ' A Light Shines Out To Sea' is a tribute to Willie Brady. Eleven songs have been given a fresh lease on life featuring typically Irish traditional instruments and players. The result is a remarkable collection of beautifully arranged songs and ballads from the 19th and 20th century. These almost forgotten musical pearls have been lovingly brought back to life. With a clever balance of temperament, wit and melancholy the songs describe the poverty, the homesickness, the love for the sea and courtship and love of an Ireland long past. Shane teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Rob Sharer and they began recording in a school classroom in County Clare, where the songs were 'started up' with Denis Liddy on fiddle and fifteen year old Edward Breen on accordion. Many days and nights, studios, musicians and sessions later here is the finished collection for all to enjoy, so sing up!!
