The Shaxe are a central jersey-based alt-southern rock-jam band which was formed in the fall of 1992 by guitarists Mike Liskowitz and Doug Drake, bassist/guitarist Dan Coffey, and drummer Brian Impellizeri. All had played professionally for years before finding a unique chemistry in this lineup. Any low paying gigs at parties and clubs around the town would follow and eventually Sam Simmons and Tom Stange would join on percussion and sax, respectively. Throughout much of the years 1993-1996 the band would play anywhere they could, honing their style and borrowing much from the grass roots rock of jam bands like the Allmans and the Dead. By 1996, the band had enough original material to compile for what would be their debut release on Four Twenty Records entitled 'Walking Out My Soul', which would sell hundreds of copies in the next year and put the Shaxe on the map as a local house band to the many clubs that fancy that type of music. This record would receive some air play on local stations WDHA in Morristown, WXPN Philly, and The Pipeline Show in Trenton. To date, the band has played several hundred shows and have a very loyal following of fans who often come out to dance at one of the regular group of monthly shows the band performs. The band has also released their brand new full length studio CD entitled 'Lowdown Overload'. CD's can be purchased at CDBABY.COM and MP3.COM and The Princeton Record Exchange on S.
