3 from River Stones
'Alernative Country', is what my music is often called. It's blues, folk, and the romantic impulses of the 30's and 40's tunes, at least that's what I hear: a blend of American music traditions. I always love to hear what other folks hear in it. I see myself as equal parts singer and writer. Consistent writing is the development of the last five years. I especially credit the music of Ryan Adams for inspiration. I also credit anyone who has ever put a song on paper or put it into the air with their voice or other instrument. All musicians are in debt to every other musician, past or present. I see music as a living thing. Specific artists that spring into my mind include Hank Williams, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Ian Tyson and the usual,'too many others' to even begin to list. I started performing as a child: I was singing solo in church,in grade school just me and the organist in the church balcony and I've never stopped. There are two other discs out there: Sky's The Limit - Part I, and Photographic Heart Work on the full length disc, River Stones, is ongoing. I wanted to get a couple of those songs out there, so, 'Three from River Stones'. Sheila Stone lives in Los Angeles.
