Crack the Shell
Shelley James has been a stand-out musician, vocalist and recording artist on the Pacific Northwest music scene for the past decade and is known throughout the region for her golden voice and welcoming stage personality. Since 1991, she has entertained at festivals, coffee houses and music halls from Western Canada to San Diego. From her jazzerock trio Pyramid Breakfast in the early 90s, to the ripping disco band Satin Love Orchestra, and her own Shelley James m u's i c b o x, in the early 2000s, James continues to satisfy a faithful fan base. She is currently in the midst of her 3rd project, is based in the Los Angeles music scene, and has performed with Sheila E., Jonathan Butler, and Pete Escovedo. Plans in the works are for the release of her current pop/rock CD, followed by Christmas, and Worship albums. She is a part of west coast Independent label Houseboat Records. James has been an influential part of the Pacific Northwest music scened for over 13 years, performing in clubs and festivals all over, including Bumbershoot, Folklife, Art and the Vineyard. She has such a positive personality, that she was asked to be the music host for the grand opening of several music venues in Eugene including the MacDonald Theatre and the Wild Duck Music Hall. James also puts a lot of her talent toward the community, teaching music at Twin Oaks elementary school, volunteering to raise money asa guest DJ on her local community radio station KRVM, and hosting fundraising events including the American Red Cross, and Buckley House Detox Center.
