Silent Fields is David Jaye. Jaye started out on the road to being a classical saxophone professor. Such a thing exists. Along the way he studied classical guitar and composition. These last two things met up to give Jaye some purpose. He became a singer-songwriter. On the Long Island singer-songwriter scene, Jaye met acclaimed singer-songwriter Alli Collis, who is an amazing example of our species. Alli and David toured together until all the money was gone. The new album occupies an emotional space best described as teleological. The bulk of the songs are from the period between winding down the touring life and settling into domesticity. So the songs are concerned with the ends of things: years, life stages, careers, marriages, friendships, fandom, cultures, and lives. Ignoring all this, kick back and enjoy the music.
