Of the Father's Love
Skip Cleavinger works as a professional musician in Nashville, playing in recording sessions and touring and performing with various artists. He plays the Scottish Highland pipes, the Irish Uilleann (pronounced 'illen') pipes and tin whistle. Some of the artists with whom Skip has recorded and/or performed include: Martina McBride, Michael W. Smith, Sandi Patty, Steve Green, Don Moen, Selah, Robin Mark, Ceili Rain, the Ric Blair Band and others. Skip has also been a featured performer with several symphony orchestras, including the Nashville Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, the Houston Symphony, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Skip performs each St. Patrick's Day with the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Center in Chicago for 'Siamsa Na Gael.' This event serves as a fundraiser for Old St. Patrick's Cathedral and features the works of some of Ireland's greatest composers. Skip has performed on approximately 40 recording for other artists to date. 'Of the Father's Love' is his first solo CD of ancient hymns arranged for pipes, tin whistle, violin, guitar and strings. The hymns on 'Of the Father's Love' were arranged and produced by Skip Cleavinger and Michael W. Smith bandmate, Jim Daneker. The Grammy Award winning Recording engineer, Ronnie Brookshire, engineered the record. 'Of the Father's Love' features the instrumental talents of many great Nashville recording artists, including Michael W. Smith.
