Into the Light
Something Picaso is my outlet. It is a place where I go to be creative and to put my art into the world. I love to write music and there are few greater joys then a finished song. I hope that these songs come to mean something to the people that hear them. Why this name? Somthing Picaso was used in the movie Titanic. Rose is looking at some art and some one asks her who the artist is and she responds with 'something Picaso.' I really like the way it sounded and what it means. It means the art is greater than the artist. Why this name? We play live whenever we can. I am playing in several live acts at this time. I play bass and sing in Keith May & the Peppermint Players as well as playing guitar and singing in an acoustic group called Grover Take Over and finally playing live as Something Picaso. How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry? It has made music a lot more accessible. People like me would never have been heard by people around the world, now my music is available to anyone with an internet connection. It is pretty amazing. Would you sign a record contract with a major label? I would think long and hard about it. Let's face it; I would love to stand in front of an arena full of people who knew every word to all my songs. Major labels have the power to make that happen. Band History: Not much to say here. I recorded the first Something Picaso CD 3 years ago. Since then I try to play live as much as I can and I have been writing the songs you now hear on my new CD Into The Light. Your influences? I grew up on all sorts of music. The Beatles and Elvis were alive and well in my house as a kid, my parents made sure of that. In 1st grade I discovered KISS and things were never the same. Great songwriters like Ed Roland, Tom Petty and Warren Zevon have really come to mean a lot to me. These days I am really interested in Collective Soul, Thin Lizzy and anyone who takes time to craft a good song. Favorite spot? Besides being on stage performing my favorite spot is my chair on a Sunday afternoon during the NFL season. What a game sport and what a way to relax at weeks end. Equipment used: I play a Fernandes Strat and a Fender acoustic. They are nothing fancy, but they feel great in my hands. Anything else...? I hope that people give my songs a listen and find something in them that feels personal to them. And maybe just maybe they will share the songs with friends.
