Im the Giant!
More For Less is a band of only one member. The sole member is a young Hamline University Graduate from Circle Pines, Minnesota, Jim Soule. He writes and plays all the music that he records (except for some special guest musicans). You might ask why didn't he just go by Jim Soule. Well Jim thought that people would hear Jim SOULE (pronounced like SOUL-man) and think he was a soul musican. When in fact his music is quite the opposite. His music ranges up there with the cooky and weird of They Might Be Giants as well as those more poppy/rock groups heard on the radio. So Jim thought and thought until he went out and bought his first keyboard. He went to Best Buy and when he picked out the one he wanted he looked up and saw a sign that said, 'At Best Buy you get More For Less.' He joked around for a couple weeks and then he said I am More For Less. It stuck with him right up till he recorded his independent album 'I'm the GIANT!' He said I need a name and the one that he had was More For Less, so he kept it. 'I'm the GIANT!' is an album recorded on reel to reel and has a very rough and raw sound. The music is very similar to of that of They Might Be Giants. The album which was released in 1999, gain popularity amoung those of CHS and Circle Pines. The album has been compared more to a demo than to an album and indeed 'I'm the GIANT!' will be rerecorded and re-released sometime in the fall of 2003. Of course, More For Less is not the name you'll see on the new album coming out sometime in the next couple of months. When he went back into the studio to start recording a new album, what was then tenitively titled Something Out in Center Field, he began to think of his title as a performer. Soon, a bunch of new material had been recording and he began to talk with Jake Harste, a close friend of the band, and they began to ponder the idea of a new name. After quite a while, the idea for Limited Space had come up and it stuck through out the process of coming up with new names. After a slight identity crsis Jim has finally decided to stick with his given name Jim Soule. *PLEASE ENJOY I'm the GIANT! IT IS A LITTLE OF JIM'S SOUL*.
