Hear the Words
Steel Orchid is the collaborative style of Singer/Songwriters Diane Marie and Michelle Guevara, bringing a creative and unique blend to their music. Diane's experience started at 15 years old, singing country music in local clubs in Massachusetts with her father who was also a country singer. Besides her country background Diane has also been involved in The Gospel Music Association. She was a voting member and attendee of the Dove Awards and a volunteer with GMA. Diane worked for many years as a lead and background vocalist for recording studios in the Boston area. Her desire and love for music has inspired her unique guitar/vocal style. Diane is a songwriter's songwriter, prolific and able to get ideas from everyday events about life and love. She can sell a song with one line and her unique vocal delivery. Originally from Michigan, Michelle developed her fantastic pitch and harmonies singing in international barbershop competitions with the Sweet Adelines. She moved to Massachusetts and has done various solo performances for mayors, state senators and ambassadors. In addition she has also been busy doing studio work adding her flowing harmonies to many backing tracks. The combination of these two women crosses over genres from Pop, Country, and AAA formats. Immediately, it was obvious they have great knack for blending flowing harmonies with one another. This combined with acoustic guitars and thought-provoking lyrics helps define the sound of Steel Orchid. They are reminiscent of the Indigo Girls, The Judds, Dixie Chicks, and Crosby Stills & Nash in a modern format. With the ability to trade off lead vocals, they easily shift gears from sweet, soft ballads to upbeat, powerful statements; always keeping an identifiable sound that is all their own!
