You Are the Work of His Hands
Introducing Stephen Anthony In September 1976, Stephen Anthony seemed poised on the brink of success. Performing professionally since he was fourteen, Stephen had played in numerous clubs in Waikiki and on the mainland and had performed extensively on the military circuit all the way to Midway. When, in the fall of '76, he was offered a major recording contract, his dreams of success and personal fulfillment seemed finally within his grasp. A Radical Change There was only one problem. Stephen Anthony was absolutely miserable. It was indeed a bitter irony. With success apparently so near, that which he had worked so hard to obtain now seemed empty and meaningless. Contributing to Stephen's despair was his marriage which by now was in serious trouble. It was during this time that Bill Young's, a friend who would later play drums in Stephen's Band, was able to share with him the importance go making a total commitment to Christ. On September 7, 1976, both Stephen and his wife, Dawn, made Jesus Christ the Lord of their lives. After a period of musical inactivity, Stephen began to understand that his music, in reality, was a gift from God and should not remain on a shelf, abandoned and unused. So, once again Stephen Anthony began to make music, but this time his motives were entirely different. Now when he sang or played his guitar it was to honor his Savior and to share the message of God's love with others. In The Years That Followed Stephen formed several gospel rock bands, including: Logos, Rhema, Daystar, Red to White and the Stephen Anthony Band. During this period Stephen's call to a unique music ministry became increasingly apparent. His newest band 'xplodingface' is busy writing and performing and working towards the release of their debut album. This band features Stephen's daughter Holly Lewis on lead vocals.
