Faces in the Window
Steve started writing songs in the late 1960's while performing with a Houston rock band, Felix Fly. During that period of time, he was contacted by local DJ Larry Vance, who wanted the famous Wilson Pickett to record one of his tunes, "The Joy of You" as a follow up hit to "When A Man Love A Woman". On the strength of one of his tunes, "Young Girl", he spent the next 7 years on the road with his band, Strawberry Hill playing 6 nights a week, in large, popular dance clubs in all the major cities in the South/East from Texas to Florida. He continued to write, tour and record with his band mates until 1979, when he met legendary producer Walt Andrus. Walt signed him to Horizon Records and recorded several more albums with his band, Sky Blue. Steve continued performing, writing and producing throughout the 1980's and released more albums of his original material and produced a CD for Mary Ann Kakos singing his songs. During the 1990's Steve built his own digital studio, continued to write and produce music for himself and others, and released another CD, "Faces In The Window". One of the songs off 'Faces', (To Lose Your Love) was featured on NBC's 'After Hours' In 2006 he is releasing a CD of his "classic Steve Carr" rock & roll tunes from the 60's to the present. Also in 2006 Steve is releasing a CD of new material. If you listen to any of Steve's songs, you will notice several things; he is truly a poet, his lyrics are beautiful stories filled with beautiful imagery; his melodies are captivating and tend to stay on your mind all day long; and his song structure and production are top notch.
