Steven Ferguson All songs written or co-written by Steven Ferguson Playing mainly in Missouri, Colorado and Hawaii, starting in Missouri in the 9th grade with 'The Essex' with main man genius on guitar at age 13 Billy Engel, Drummer Gary McQuarrie and Mike Schirmer playing clubhouses and pool parties. Then moving on to the Lake of the Ozarks with the folk/vocal group 'The Four Of Us' performing 5 nights a week at Tan Tara Resort in the summer of 1970, also performing for the Governor's Convention of that year. Then The Leather Bottle in St. Louis in a Duo as 'Mark & Steve' in the summer 1972 five nights a week is where Steven started. Moving back to Colorado where he spent his elementary school days he spent his time musically playing both full-time and part-time. Starting with Haden Gregg, 'Hot Rod' Schroeder and Jim Greenwood, playing many mountain towns in the early '70's in 'Mountain Star' which turned into 'The Hole In The Wall Gang'. Highlights were playing first show to Michael Murphy of 'Wildfire' fame and the Miss Teen Colorado dance at the Brown Palace in Denver. When stationed in Hawaii in the Middle 70's, Steven played on weekends as a Duo with Rickie Rice at the Army Rec Club on Pokai Bay Beach and various other venues, the highlight was being invited to perform for the locals at an Hawaiian Wedding, it was an honor to play at a local Hawaiian Wedding, not too many boys in the service get that opportunity. Living in Hawaii almost 4 years, he entered his song 'Hawaiian Girl' in a songwriting contest there, which made it to the finals in the Hawaiian Homegrown Contest. Rick came out to Colorado to join Steve again when both got an Honorable Discharge out of the service and formed S & R Express (duo), turning into S & R Express Band, playing up to 7 nights a week, obviously full time in the later 70's early 80's. From there Steven played in the country/rock bands: The Burbon Cowboy Band, The Mushroom Mountain Band, Slowburn and Hot Rod Steven & Dr. Watson. Most of the songs on this CD were written in the mid to later 70's in Hawaii on Tom Wagner's four track reel-to-reel recorder, but came to life in 1987 when Steven went into the studio with musician friends he had been playing with for years and then entered 2 of those songs in the Colorado Songwriter's Festival. 'Colorado Canyon Song' placed #4 and 'Whiskey' placed #8. The next year, 1988, Steven entered 'Morning Glory' and placed #3. Three in the top 10 out of 100's of songs entered was not a bad start to test Steven's original material. 'Morning Glory' was also played in the late 80's on Boulder's KBCO's radio show, which featured three local songwriters each week. 'She Was A Dancer' placed in the semi finals. 'MountainBoogie' and 'Southwind' are the more recent songs, written in 1999. 'Hot Rod Steven and Dr. Watson' CD is now up and running with CD Baby which is the last full band Steven was a part of, this CD also has all original material on it, with three song writers.
