Struck Last May is a two-person experimental conceptually based project laid upon the foundation of guitars and samples, directed by the orchestration of emotion. Comprised of Michael Knott (vocals, guitars, arranging and lyrics) and Rick McDonough (programming, samples, guitars and vocals) they blend a healthy dose of experimentation with natural instrumentation strung together by the thread of emotional vocal melodies and solid lyrical content. Knott, coming from a strong singer-songwriter background, has been the front man of many diverse bands over the course of his career, including being signed to Warner Brothers by Seymour Stein. He approaches vocals like an actor slipping into a role who is playing a specific character, resulting in the listeners.. ability to tap directly into the human experience through emotional relations and connections. McDonough approaches the music from a perspective that is informed by his studies in other media (literature, photography and other visually based arts) that embraces emotion and textures through minimalism. With evocative noise hooks and melodies he lures you into another place that is foreign, yet comfortable and peaceful. Together they provide a meaningful and entertaining musical experience channeling the emotion through experimentation in a creative and unconventional way with each individual song as a story conveying, and ultimately reflecting the human experience. 'New effort from Mike Knott. Yes, Mike Knott! These 14 tracks were recorded last year, and they show Knott visiting a more experimental side, as in barking like a dog and purring like a cat. This is a must have for any Knott fan + as usual it includes some beautiful ballads' - Velvet Blue Music.
