Local band: SuperDuoSellout Group nails that elusive pop perfection By Barbara Mitchell The Portland Tribune, Sep 28, 2007 Never mind that there's three of them: SuperDuoSellout has studied the math to success, and now it's here to claim it. It might be hard to describe the perfect pop song, but you know one when you hear it. It sends a tingle down your spine, it sounds familiar but fresh, and you know from the second you come across it that it's going to be stuck in your head for weeks. Amazingly, local three-piece SuperDuoSellout has crafted an album's worth of songs that meet those criteria. In the group's seasoned hands, American power pop meets the best of the past 40-something years of U.K. music, leading to a combination of meaty, singalong choruses with a dash of melancholy and a dose of (well-earned) swagger. All too frequently, bands cite the best references but deliver embarrassingly subpar material to back up their influences. SuperDuoSellout is not one of them. - Barbara Mitchell.
