BIOGRAPHY Taffette Boykins is an inspired singer and songwriter for life. Her rich Gospel heritage crosses paths with her mellow styling of Jazz and smooth Rhythm and Blues. Taffette's mezzo-soprano groovy peaks can definitely put you in the mood for romance, relaxation or change the groove to rock your soul. Her musical beginnings were nurtured in Gospel music. Her inspiration for songwriting evolved from her interest in writing poetry and short stories. Some of her performance highlights include: MacDonald's Music Fest, A Salute to Marcus Foster: Marcus Foster Foundation: Paramount Theater, Oakland, California and benefit appearance for Breast Cancer Awareness and Oakland Licensed Daycare Operators Association: UTA Organizations and Spoken Word Association. FADE TO BLACK is a staged one-woman mini concert. It is a musical conglomeration of original songs and music that provides an excellent showcase for Taffette's vocal expressions. Taffette is sensual, sultry and sweet as she delivers thought provoking lyrics stirred with her own touch of smooth Jazz sprinkled over R&B melodies that will delight your senses. Her influences from Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald lives on as Taffette includes a powerful gospel rendition of 'I Believe I Can Fly' that will have you soaring through the sky. She just completed her 'Song Gifts' music CD entitled 'When I See You' released in June 2003. Singing and writing is Taffette's passion. Taffette's unique writing ability has enable her to write a cook book, an inspirational journal for daily living, children's lullabies and erotic romance stories that are sure to make you holler for more. She is a no-nonsense, take care of business performer who possesses the endurance of a long distance runner. She owns and operates TBMTaffette Boykins Music, which is based in Richmond, California.
