Product Notes

Inspired by the diversity, frailty and vulnerability of human emotion, Tarun Stevenson is one of those rare talents who is driven by the desire to paint a picture of his most inner thoughts through song. Songs that are free from the shackles of trends and the confines of ego. Following in the footsteps of such greats as Nick Drake and Ben Harper, Stevenson's penchant for subtle melody, diverse rhythm and deep lyrical content expose the soul of his music for all to embrace. A Breif History: Originally from Brisbane, Tarun cut his musical teeth as a teenager with hard rock/grunge band Revelation. In 1994 Tarun headed south to Sydney to pursue a solo career with his take on bluesy funk rock. Mining the sounds of influences such as Sly and the family Stone and Jimi Hendrix. Tarun's debut EP-Roon received wide approval amongst indie circles with songs licensed on 2 North American releases. Roon also brought Tarun to the attention of Grammy nominated Producers Jim Emerich and Johnny Pierce based in Nashville TN, who invited him over to the US to record a 3 song self titled EP in 1999. Upon return to Australia, Tarun began to experiment with a more acoustic oriented sound and quickly became a regular feature on the emerging roots and nu folk scene. In 2002 Tarun moved further south to Melbourne where his writing really came into it's own. Exploring themes of life, love, pain and loss, Tarun's style evolved into a mellow and at times soulful acoustic folk blues, which has now become his staple. In the tradition of modern protagonists such as Ben Harper and Jack Johnson, Tarun's melodies coupled heart felt lyrics and simple but ear catching acoustic guitar draw you into a world of bitter sweet.
