Out Di Fire
A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Steadman 'Teddy' Greaves grew up listening to his father sing and play his guitar. His favorite childhood memories include hanging around dance halls and hearing calypso, ska, mento and the emerging sounds of reggae music. Teddy joined the Sonny Bradshaw Sensational Seven Band and after several years as a singer, he developed his skills playing the bass. He joined the ship's band on the S/S Yarmouth and began to see the world. He ended up settling in the Bahamas and had a successful night club act. The act was seen at the Jankanou Night Club in Washington D.C. in the 60's. For many years, Teddy Greaves and The Groovy Guys Show band played primarily in Freeport, Bahamas with band members Ozzie Hall, Cedric Brooks, Victor Reid, George McLeary, Trevor Lopez and Ernie Ranglin. Longing for the sea, Teddy appeared as Star Entertainer of premier cruise lines like Holland America, Royal, Cunard and Norwegian Cruise Lines and performed his memorable calypso, soca, jazz, ballards and reggae renditions. Teddy presently resides in the island of Bermuda.
