Product Notes

The quilt that is Three Fourths Drunk was not woven in a single sitting. No, it took many years to stitch together what is quickly becoming one of the most talked about bands in Richmond. It all began in 2004 as a collaboration between two high school friends. Inspired by boredom and women problems, songwriter Tony Giamichael and multi-instrumentalist Mike Burns spent the better part of a rainy summer afternoon in Mike's basement writing and recording rough sketches. While college kept them apart geographically, the songs continued to be penned and other people started to listen. A late night of beer and strawberry daiquiris found fellow high school friend Asa Frey with a harmonica in G, and Three Fourths Drunk came plunging forth from the womb of alcohol. After a string of successful open mic performances, the need for an LP became clear. In the summer of 2005, the three founding members headed north to Cape Cod. Their days were spent docking boats and helping ferry travelers find their way, their nights spent arguing and recording songs in their rental basement. The summer produced the bands debut album (far from home, 2005) In the spring of 2006, Asa and Mike graduated from college. With no plans for the future and news of two vacancies in Tony's Richmond apartment, the path became clear. In the fall of 2006, Three Fourths Drunk became four, as Brian Sonnek joined on lead guitar. They recently completed their second full length album, for the birds, already earning rave reviews: Tony: yee haw Asa: i thought i did well Tony: i thought that was great Mike: i thought i did alright...
