Product Notes

Tim Houlihan is a singer-songwriter based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Tim's songs come from an acoustic-guitar foundation and are influenced by music around the world: Latin, jazz, rock, raggae, and others. His music is often described as living room music, songs that are best played in the living room of a home: intimate, warm, and comfortable. Tim's first record, 'Letter from Caulk's Creek' released in 1999 contains 12 songs of acoustic-guitar-based music. Mostly folk sounds, with some world beats and sounds of Ireland and Portugal, the songs are inspired by Edgar Lee Masters, Ina Colbrith, the hills of Eastern-Missouri, a child's view of the world, and a beach town named Portimao. 'Lives on the Same Arc', under the Stillhouse band name, was completed in 2003 in collaboration with two other singer-songwriters: David Dati, a social worker who lives in Richland Center, Wisconsin, and Tom Riley, a philosophy professor at Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. We shared writing credits and worked long-distance to make this record a true collaboration. Tim's third release is called 'Opal' and hit the streets in January 2006. It is more of an anthology than a record. With 17 tracks, it is a great value for the money! It's a solo record in a way because all the material is Tim Houlihan's; however, many talented people were involved in making this dream come true. It's a broader mix of acoustic and electric music than other records as it includes several tunes with horns, jazz vibraphone, and strong vocal arrangements.
