Tim Lane was born Timmothy Lane Cromer on June 28, 1969 in Oconee, South Carolina. He was born to working class parents, George and Minnie Cromer. George Cromer spent most of his life working in a steel plant. Tim would grow up to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming employed at the same steel plant in 1995, in which they worked the same shift for many years. They saw each other daily. George passed away on June 9, 2000, which made it very difficult for Tim to return to work. Tim endured the pain and returned to work but felt an emptiness at the plant for several years after. With the passing of his father Tim decided to quit the steel plant to pursue a more flexible job, which would allow more time for him to chase his musical aspirations. Tim currently resides in Greenville, South Carolina; however, it is Westminster South Carolina that he calls home. It is in this small town of Upstate South Carolina where Tim realized his interest in music. He and his two sisters, Lisa and Lynn, would sing with their mother in church on Sundays. In fact, Tim would go on to sing in both the youth and adult choir at First Baptist Church of Westminster. Tim graduated from West Oak High School in Westminster and worked at several local jobs. In May of 1992 he went on to serve our country in the US Army during a time of war in which he received a Medal of Commendation. Unfortunately, when Tim reached permanent party the war had ended cutting him short of military combat. He was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas where he worked as a light wheel vehicle mechanic. His rank was E4 Specialist at the time of his honorable discharge. Tim enjoys exercising, swimming, computers, fishing and of course, singing in his spare time. He has participated in several singing competitions over the last few years and is constantly invited to sing at other engagements. Over the years he has listened to many different genres of music. He found interest in country music, which led him to pursue a singing career. Some of his musical influences include Jim Reeves, Conway Twitty, Kenny Chesney, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, and Richard Marx. Tim has devoted the last two years to the completion of his self titled debut album.
