On their debut release, 'Seductivity', Times 4 presents an energetic concoction of all-original music, integrating groove-based funk/hiphop beats with modern harmony and improvised jazz. 'Seductivity' features a wide range of musical beats and flavors that reflect the eclectic backgrounds of the musicians. From straight up jazz/funk to latin to blues to middle eastern tinge, a diverse musical journey is embarked on in the name of progressive jazz. One of the showcase tracks on the CD is Track 5, entitled 'Down Low', in honor of the venue at which it was recorded (The Shattuck Down Low, Berkeley, California). It was performed with an approach most characteristic of Times 4 - no preconception of form or direction, no musical notation - simply freestyle musical improvisation that never sacrifices the strength of a powerful groove - truly progressive jazz. Times 4 is an instrumental performance quartet of San Francisco Bay Area natives. They deliver a potent force of fresh, energetic interplay steeped in the history of friendship and common musical roots. Times 4 is Lincoln Adler (saxophone), Kevin Lofton (bass), Maurice Miles (drums), and Greg Sankovich (keyboards). Maurice and Kevin are friends and musical collaborators since high school; likewise, Lincoln and Greg continue a musical dialogue that also dates back to their teen years. The members of Times 4 have, together and individually, traveled the world contributing their talents to a wide range of musical projects with many renowned artists, and have recorded music on over 20 distinguished record labels.
