Little Love a Million Reasons
Nearly 15 years ago I stumbled into Tim Uecker at a Christian Supply store. And now, 15 years later, I am all the more thankful for that chance meeting. I recall walking out of the store that day feeling like something special just occurred. As life progressed, my feelings proved me right as the Lord led me to a family that would have a profound impact on my life. As a 'wannabe' bass guitar player, Tim took me in and we began a musical partnership that would lead us through an amazing time in life. However, most importantly, a deep friendship began that would carry us through both the highs and lows of life. Simply put, as Bruce Cockburn writes, 'To be in the heart of a friend is to be king.' And it is exactly this friendship with the Uecker family that I am most thankful for. A few months ago, I showed up at a gig Tim was playing. Due to the restraints of life, I had rarely been able to see Tim play. But, there I was that one Saturday night on a date with my daughter hearing some of Tim's new music for the first time. There I was that Saturday night caught in the midst of a flood. The flood was the pouring out of the soul of Tim Uecker as he sat not singing, but proclaiming his life journey. Of course, you can call them songs if you want, I choose to call them stories. Very rarely have I heard an artist bare their soul as I was hearing this night. It was then when I felt led to mention to Tim that it was time to record again. However, this time would be different. This time the walls come down. Just Tim, his guitar, and a microphone. -Gunnar Simonsen, a long time friend.
