Tom McCay was trained as a musician, starting his formal piano studies at age four. He gave his first solo recital at age six and started composing at age eleven. His mother's dream for him was the concert stage but the necessity of earning a living took precedence, and during his high school years he made the decision to become an electronics engineer. He enjoyed a productive career in electronics, in both commercial and military applications, and was awarded several patents. His engineering expertise has also led him into the area of electronic and computer music applications. Now retired from industry, music is once more his primary interest. He continues to compose, arrange, and teach. These ten piano solos were written for various pupils as lesson assignments. Tom lives with his wife, JoAnne, in the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona.
