Mill Avenue Cowboys
Tramps & Thieves are an Americana, alt-country, folk-rock band out of the Southwestern USA--Phoenix to be precise. They've been in business for over five years, with the same line-up. The two singer/songwriters, Emmett DeGuvera and J Scott Howard, have been swapping tunes for eight years, so, they're already showing the signs of withstanding the test of time. That's pretty unique in this day and age. They get compared to Neil Young quite a bit, CCR, Gram Parsons and Tom Petty too. That's some high praise for a band that prides themselves on writing and playing their own tunes! While you can hear their influences sure enough these guys are miles away from being labelled 'Classic Rock': they're just too fiercely independent and young for that. Their unique brew draws lots of comparisons to more modern alternative-country acts like Uncle Tupelo, Steve Earle, The Jayhawks, Drive By Truckers and Ryan Adams too. These guys are out there on the road, right now, doing things the hard way, earning it blue-collar style: Touring, playing the occasional cover tune but mostly sticking to their guns and playing their unique americana anthems: figuring if they don't play 'em, how in the hell will anyone ever hear 'em?
