I Wanna Believe
Raised in Florence, AL Troy was constantly around music. His parents, Terry and Dianne, were always singing, just on a whim, any word that was said brought memories of old songs to their minds and they began singing. Troy's earliest memory of a concert was Kenny Rogers in Huntsville and a few years later, Ronnie Milsap and John Schneider. His love for music only grew with each year. As Troy got older his musical tastes changed some, really because he was following the lead of his older brother Bryan, and he began listening to those great 80's rock bands. In the 8th grade, at a school dance, Troy heard Garth Brooks' "Friends In Low Places" and was drawn quickly back into country. Lionel Richie also influenced Troy early and other R & B artists like Marvin Gaye and Al Green. All of those genres and singers still influence Troy's music in some ways. Troy has a pretty eclectic musical taste for someone so simple. Today he will go from listening to George Strait one minute to Sound Garden, Billy Vera and the Beaters, or the Eagles the next minute. All through his life Troy was always encouraged by family and friends to follow through, no matter if it was in football, work, or with his singing aspirations. In the 8th grade he joined the Forrest Hills show choir and whistled his way through the performance. At Bradshaw High School, in the 9th grade, he got his first taste of the stage singing "Friends In Low Places" for show choir and from that point on he was hooked. Troy spent 4 years in high school contributing to show choir and any other choir he could get involved in and singing any other chance he got. After high school Troy attended the University of South Alabama for a quarter and then the University of North Alabama. He began working for Court Street Café in Florence and after about 2 months met and instantly fell in love with his wife. They were married 6 months and 2 days after their first date and have been married now for nearly 11 years. Troy does not know why she puts up with him but knows that he is blessed by her presence, love, and constant support. Through Noelle Troy has learned what it truly means to love and what it truly means to be a Christian. Troy has 2 children. His daughter is 7 and his son is nearly 4. They are blessings beyond measure. Not only was Noelle extremely helpful in the song choices, but also one of the songs was really picked by the kids. They all steer Troy's life with their constant inspiration and love. Troy is currently working as a biologist for Aqua Services, Inc., a complete pond and lake management company, founded by his dad in 1982. Troy spends a lot of time on ponds and lakes throughout the southeast on the back of an airboat or electro-fishing boat managing folk's lakes for lunker bass production. Living now in a small community on the Wayne and Lawrence Co., TN. line Troy spends most of his spare time with his family. He also spends time in the fall deer hunting and in the spring turkey hunting. Troy would of course not be where he is without his mom and dad. Through is mother's encouragement and his dad's songwriting Troy's placed firm roots in music that only run deeper with every year. This album is a dream that Troy has had for years and his main objective was to create an album that people would love. With the help of Walt Aldridge and some great musicians and writers Troy's album is just that, it has something for everyone and he believes folks will really be pleased with the album.
