Vahnessah has been creating music most of her life. She's currently transitioning from being a studio musician to performing. This is her story in her own words: I first began performing when I was three. Mom took us kids to sing at a fundraising event for the homeless. I loved that people were watching me and that I was part of helping the ones without homes. I was hooked. I realized music could be an incredible tool. People ask me who my influence are and what inspires me. Everyday people inspire me. People struggling to be. People existing and plugging along in life. That is what it is all about. People. That is why I write. That is why I want to be heard. To talk to people in a way that might bring them some sort of joy or peace, or understanding or to fire them up to get things done. When I started the Closer Yet project, I took the term 'Debut Solo Album' as literally as I could to make a point: It's not what kind of equipment that you have, it's not the big guns you can hire, it's not your status or appearance, and it has nothing to do with marketing. It's who you are, what you have to say, and how you do it. You can have pro tools, but if you cannot do it live and do it well, what does that say to the world? I wanted to prove that talent and passion and drive can make up for any small budget, and most importantly, a song has power, IF you give it such.
