Guitar Travels-A Musical Journey
Walt Kuchinski has been playing guitar since age 11, taught initially by his Dad, and then by several great New York-based guitarists he remembers to this day. He began performing at a very early age and also was invited to teach guitar and music theory at age 15. His teaching encompassed all styles and age groups, spanning well over 100 students. His Jazz-Rock group 'The Dynamics' performed for a wide-range of venues in the New York area during this timeframe, being one of the first to incorporate brass instrumentation into their sound. He put the musical part of his life aside for a long time to pursue a successful career in the human resources field where he served in numerous senior capacities for leading financial institutions. Then, in 2003 he formed his own consulting firm, which provided him the opportunity to devote more time to his true passion... pursuit of the guitar. Walt formed Guitar Travels in 2005 and continues to perform regularly in the Charlotte, North Carolina region. Consisting almost exclusively of original compositions, his music has evolved to embrace a very wide-range of styles and influences, all of which seek to celebrate the diversity of people and their music. The multicultural nature of his songs serves to weave a common, connected thread in his newly released album "Guitar Travels - a Musical Journey". With each successive track, the listener is led on a journey, exploring jazz in many of it's' forms... from traditional, blues and hip-hop, to Latin, Caribbean, Afro and World styles. There are also two New Age pieces included in the offering which were written by and performed in collaboration with his son Brian. Since 2005 he has created more than 50 unique compositions, 19 of which are included in this album. This new CD release is drawing considerable interest and has a growing local and national following. People have said 'Now, THIS is my kind of music!'; 'You just have to move your feet to that song!'; 'Your music is smooth, sophisticated and relaxing'; 'At the end of the day I love to pour a glass of wine, put on your CD, sit back and get absorbed into the music'; 'Great stuff man - keep it coming'......... Walt's influences come from many of the world's great guitarists, but he is particularly drawn to the artistry of Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Chet Atkins, Larry Carlton and Pat Metheny. He resides in Charlotte, NC with his dear wife Angel and is the proud father of Brian and Amy.
